[Position] Director of Engineering
[About You]
You are an exceptional Director of Engineering, an inspiring technical leader with a passion for building great products, a deep understanding of software architecture, and a proven track record of implementing processes and tools that help teams succeed.
You stay abreast of the latest technologies and best practices, and know what to apply when. You are still a capable coder, but also a talented manager and leader. You are passionate about solving hard problems. You've built systems at large scale and are comfortable with big data.
You have a history of recruiting high-performing technical teams and fostering their growth (preferably in a startup environment). You inspire people to do their best work.
You have a strong entrepreneurial streak, and a passion for building companies and cultures. You have either started (or have considering starting) your own company as a technical founder, but are interested in the prospect of a similarly early stage opportunity with a team, product, and financing already in place.
To be successful, you must be able to lead in a fast paced dynamic environment; be very organized and analytical, and have the ability to multi-task, build relationships, problem solve and communicate effectively.
[Job Specifics]
We have an immediate opening for a Director of Engineering to build, mentor and lead a team to architect and create the server services that will take drive our next generation of mobile device, software development. This is a senior management position reporting to the Vice President of Engineering.
The Director of Engineering will act as an interface between our development team and Product Management from project inception to delivery all the way through post ship maintenance and support. The Director of Engineering will manage multiple complex projects throughout the entire project lifecycle and will have a broad range of responsibility. The position will be based in our Seoul, Korea office. However, travel to our customer’s locations in the US, Europe and Asia as well as trips to some our distributed development locations may be required.

We are looking for an extremely technically minded individual with a passion for technology. This person should have grown up through the ranks with deep-rooted seeds in application development that has a passion for engineering and project management. They must also be up to date on technology, constantly pushing to excel; striving to be the best in the industry, reading and learning about new process, techniques and best practices not only at work, but also as a hobby and passion. We want someone that is a mentor to others and accepted “go to person” for process improvement.
[Responsibilities]
·Recruit and lead a team of world-class engineers
·Develop and promote best practices in software development
·Plan product releases and deliver to agreed-upon schedule
·Plan and manage a cloud infrastructure that can scale to billions of hits and petabytes of data
·Evolve company strategy and culture with other executives
·Establish and implement a continuous improvement process
·Accurately estimate, establish, report on and deliver to an agreed-upon project schedule

·Ability to create a culture and processes that foster rapid iteration and learning.
·Familiarity with Lean Startup principles
·Up to date on latest technologies and best practices, and able to recognize strengths and weaknesses.
·Exhibit strong strategic planning, departmental management, group motivation, imagination and diplomacy skills.
·Experience running and responsible for teams with over 20 senior developers and QA.
